Tharp Joins Jacaranda in 2013

Steven Tharp will join Jacaranda (“one of the best and most adventurous chamber music series in the country,” Los Angeles Times) for two special events marking the centenary of Benjamin Britten.

On Saturday, April 27, Jacaranda will present Britten's moving Church Parable Curlew River, conducted by Mark Alan Hilt and directed by Yuval Sharon. Steven Tharp will portray the Madwoman, and the cast includes Dean Elzinga as the Ferryman, Reid Burton as the Abbot, and Abdiel Gonzales as the Traveller. (→ buy tickets)

On June 1, 2013, Steven Tharp returns to Jacaranda for Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, once again with Mark Alan Hilt, Jacaranda's Music Director, on the podium. The all-Brittten program will include String Quartet No. 3 and the Suite for Violin and Piano, op. 6. (→ buy tickets)
